YOU'RE THE GUY THAT I'D BE STUPID TO TRUSTbut just one night couldn't be so wrong. you make me wanna lose control. So... touring the campus was nothing short of exciting.
Of course, it would have been a lot more exciting if the head teacher hadn’t come out of the school to see herself and Derek ‘get up to no good’, not they were doing anything bad, just you know... tagging the wall, trying to piss off the ‘Queen Bee’ and her ‘royal roadies’. It had worked, to an extent. They Scarlett just got pissed off by the followers and stalked off in the other direction, away from Derek; who had joined her moments later. The two of them had had quite a lot of fun together in that short space of time before they made the plans to actually go to dinner, like he had said. Then they’d parted ways and Scarlett had promised him to meet him at Dumbo, outside the River Café.
Scarlett had then rushed off back to her dorm to change out of her normal jeans and plain t-shirt with the hoodie thrown over the top, into something a little more her. She’d yanked her closet doors open so hard that a load of clothes had fallen on top of her. Ignoring this, the seventeen year old had filtered through said mess of clothes and found a skirt and a vest type t-shirt that should tuck into the skirt and throw a jacket over the top. All she needed to do beforehand was grab a shower and tidy herself up a little bit.
It wasn’t that she wanted to make an effort, or make it seem that she was making an effort. It was more to do with the fact that she felt obliged to make an effort and she had absolutely no idea why. Perhaps they were rushing this all. Was it all going too fast? No, she should stop being so silly. Derek was a lovely boy, and he said that he kept his promises, all she had to do was uphold her side of the promise and turn up at the River Café.
Grabbing her towel and toiletries from her mini drawer besides her bed, Scarlett hopped out of her dorm room and dived sideways into the bathroom before the other girls could get in there. A muffled groan came from the other side of the door but she shrugged it off and locked the door. It wasn’t as though they had to be anywhere at any particular moment in time... or, maybe they did? Oh no, now she felt a tad bit bad as she started the run the taps. Removing her clothes and folding the up neatly on top of the toilet seat lid. Once the water was at the desired temperature, Scarlett stepped under the steaming water, waiting several minutes before she grabbed the shower gel and lathered some into the palm of her hand. A shower was usually a short affair for the brunette. Not rushed, but not timely either. The soapy bubbles washed away as she lathered shampoo into her hair and then conditioned before making sure every last bubble was swirling down the drain.
She stepped out of the shower and wrapped the towel around her body, leaving her soaking wet hair hanging over one shoulders as she gathered her clothes and exited the bathroom, dashing back into her room before anyone could see her. Then the reality hit her like a ton of bricks and Scarlett fell face first down on her bed. Maybe it was all too good to be true. Maybe it was all sudden. Maybe he would stand her up. But no, she shouldn’t be thinking these pessimistic things. She needed to be optimistic. Derek hadn’t stood her up when he said he’d meet her in the courtyard a little over an hour or so ago. So was there any reason as to why he should do so now?
None at all, but the more she thought about it, the more she got angry at herself and the quicker her mind drifted back to the Stanley knife hidden away in her cabinet. Scarlett knew she shouldn’t, but she just couldn’t help herself. Her mind had been invaded by so many questions, in so many different voices and she couldn’t bare it at all. With sigh she inched up the bed and pulled the Stanley from its hideaway place. She flicked the blade and gritted her teeth. Soon the pain would all disappear and she could meet with Derek and not utter a single word about this to him.
Her eyes drifted to all the fading scars on her wrist and moved up her arm to the fleshy part on the inside. Scarlett positioned the Stanley at an angle and dug it deep into the flesh – but not so deep that it would leave her bleeding so much she could pass out, just deep enough for it to hurt. Once. Twice. Three times and then once more for good measure. Scarlett dropped the Stanley onto the bed and lay back on the bed, looking up at the ceiling, taking deep breaths as a way to calm herself down. She just need five more minutes, and then she would be right as rain.
Fifteen minutes passed before she finally sat herself up. Wiping the blood from her arm away with the towel, Scarlett got up from the bed and moved to her underwear drawer, slipping on some lingerie before sliding into the skirt and tucking the vest type top into. She added a touch of eyeliner and mascara to make her eyes look darker. A pair of black Mary Jane’s were slipped onto her feet, followed by a thorn patch necklace and some bracelets. Scarlett looked at herself in the mirror and grimaced at the marks she’d left with the Stanley. She just needed a jacket and she knew the perfect one to wear. Shoving everything back into her closet, Scarlett grabbed her black Marc Jacobs jacket and slipped into it, wincing slightly as she felt a ‘twang’ where she’d cut herself. Now she was ready to go.
Scarlett grabbed some money and stuffed it down her bra – she didn’t like carrying purses around, ever. She used her cell phone to order a cab since she had no idea where Dumbo was. It was waiting for her the moment she stepped off the campus. Sliding into it she gave him the name of the place and discreetly took some money out of her bra when he pulled up near it. Handing over the cash, he gave her change, Scarlett stepped out of the cab and took a couple of steps forwards before stopping and taking in her surroundings. It was actually a rather nice place, all she had to do now was find The River Café and meet Derek there. Which shouldn’t be too hard. In fact it wasn’t. Scarlett found the place with ease and casually leant against the railings looking down at her shoes. She stood there for around five minutes before someone stopped in front of her. But she didn’t look up, yet.

CAUSE JUST ONE NIGHT COULDN`T BE SO WRONG
-- i`m gonna make you lose control.
×××××××××
as if it was ever possible; diggy had found a girl he`d maybe want to get to know. scarlett was the definition of cool.. well, his definition. their entire meeting had started online, in the eisley chat room; and in a matter of, maybe, half an hour.. they`d planned three things to do together. they were both new to the school so diggy had suggested they get to know the campus together. as of late, diggy had missed almost half his classes because he had always gotten lost and was way too lazy to continue looking. the school was like a fucking labyrinth and diggy was not right kind person to explore it.. well; at least not alone.. and maybe, not sober. so maybe, he figured, with company the exploration of the eisley labyrinth would be a bit more enjoyable. maybe. he had his doubts... but there was no harm in trying, huh?
the tour.. the tour wasn`t extremely exciting. considering.. when diggy usually did stuff like that, to have fun, he`d be high of something or another. but really.. what kind of excitement could a guy really get from a tour; around a school; with a girl he barely knew? well.. her could get excitement from it. but hey.. let`s not be pervs. anyway! the tour was definitely fun. very fun, actually. scarlett had turned out to much prettier in person.. which only made derek want to impress her even more. then.. after running into a, seemingly, random group of girls; scarlett had stalked off, leaving him a little bit confused. it took him a few seconds before he went after he; and then he`d taken a wrong turn somewhere and stood; shocked at how fast she could move and how dumb he was. when he finally found her; he apologized, told her how he`d gotten lost, joked about how dumb he was, then suggested they have their dinner plans moved to that night. she agreed then they made more plans to meet at the restaurant.
diggy was actually very excited to go out the dinner with scarlett. why not? she was a beautiful girl, a fact that diggy could not get over, both inside and out. they had similar interests; including music in an artistic fashion; not fanatically, like a lot of chicks he delt with. which was always a plus.. and a bigger plus: they had some serious fun together. the only issue he`d probably have is keeping the conversation going.. but; their conversation had kept on the entire time they were together.. so maybe he didn`t have to worry about that? but.. after thinking for a second, he realized he`d have to work on keeping his mouth shut and not saying the wrong things. shit. he hadn`t even thought about that! he sighed a little as he opened the door to his dorm room. he hoped to God that it wouldn`t get all awkward and silent. he went into his room and grabbed his bathroom gear before walking straight in there to get ready.
it took him a moment to feel completely clean.. derek had this thing about himself.. whenever he thought about, or felt like he needed drugs.. he just felt dirty. after getting lost that morning going to class.. he spent the rest of the morning thinking about how good one hit would feel. how fucking bad he wanted it. and how harmful it wouldn`t be. so he`d spent most of his time getting ready, in the shower. trying his hardest to keep the thoughts of coke and meth and weed.. and any other substance out of his mind. when he finally emerged from the shower; he looked at the time. ohhh.. shit. he had ten minutes til he was due to meet scarlett. he rushed in his room and threw together a quick, but dashing, outfit then headed out for the night.
the ride over to dumbo was interesting. remember; this was derek`s first time in brooklyn; so he sure as hell didn`t know where he was going, exactly. when he got in the taxi. he was silent.. wondering why the hell he hadn`t driven off. he cleared his throat and asked the man to get a move on.. then felt the dumb wash over his face when the man suggested he tell him where to take him. "oh.. uhm.. the river cafe?" he nodded a little when the driver confirmed that the place was in dumbo. he sat in the backseat hoping he didn`t get lost in brooklyn. damnit.. why hadn`t he done it? just one line and he`d`ve been set for the rest of the night.. wait. no. he shook his head to get the thoughts out of his mind. he had a small mental battle with himself before looking up in the direction the driver pointed to. he informed diggy that the river cafe was a few doors up and that traffic would make his even later to whatever he was there for. he thanked the man, paid him then hopped out the taxi. God; was he happy to be out of there..
as he walked up to the place; he noticed scarlett standing outside. he smiled a little.. then frowned when he saw some random guy come up to her. he approached slowly, just as the guy began saying some more than rude, and vulgar, things to scarlett. he stepped up and looked at the guy. "hey, hey. step off, man.." he said, giving him a look of pure disgust. he waited, staring the man down until he left. suddenly; he was happy that he hadn`t done anything before leaving. because if he had.. the guy would be on the ground and scarlett would`ve possibly left the scene, horrified and disgusted with him. he shook his head and looked at scarlett. he smiled. "hey." he motioned towards the restaurant. "ready to go in?"

YOU'RE THE GUY THAT I'D BE STUPID TO TRUSTbut just one night couldn't be so wrong. you make me wanna lose control. It took, perhaps, a couple of minutes for Scarlett to realise that there was someone standing in front of her before she finally looked up and came face to face with a man that she did not recognise at all. He was approaching her slowly, or had approached her slowly and before Scarlett could open her mouth to ask if he was lost or something, the guy opened his own mouth and started to suggest things and say things. The majority of which were so rude and so vulgar she didn’t completely understand, but felt an overwhelming urge to kick him in the balls, or slap him across the face just to make him shut up. It wasn’t every day that a person walked up to a girl and started to say things like that... oh wait, Brooklyn.
Fortunately for Scarlett, Derek came to her rescue before the guy could do anything more than just say words. She shifted uncomfortably in the man’s presence and took a step closer towards Derek as he warned the guy and shot him a death glare – or what she had perceived to be a death glare, it was probably something else. It wasn’t like she cared that much anyway, she was just thankful that Derek had made the guy leave, otherwise she wasn’t sure what would have happened, but she did have an inkling that it probably wouldn’t have been a very pretty thing to witness.
For a moment she watched the stranger walk off, chewing on the inside of her bottom lip. He appeared to have taken a liking to all the other pretty girls around Dumbo. She watched as he sidled up to another girl, assuming that he was repeating the things to this girl that he’d said to herself, Scarlett turned her head away and looked up at Derek as he spoke. She smiled and nodded curtly. “Hello...” came one half of her reply as she pushed herself off of the railings and took another small step closer to Derek. “sure am.” came the other half of her reply as she took a step towards the café and stopped.
As she waited for Derek to move, Scarlett’s mind wandered back to the male that had been rude to her. She tried to get her head around the things that he’d said and came to the conclusion that he’d said them to her because he thought she was pretty. But Scarlett, herself, didn’t think that she was pretty. She thought that she was average in the looks department, and that was where the conclusion she’d drawn for herself confused her. There’s no way... She thought to herself as she turned her head in his direction and watched him for a few seconds with the other girl.
Her brow furrowed and was then quickly raised as the girl slapped the guy and stalked off. Scarlett bit down a little harder on the inside of her lip and wished that she’d been a little more courageous and had done that. Perhaps then the other girl wouldn’t have had to deal with the guy, or maybe she would have. Either way, she knew that she should probably have been a little more courageous. Not that it mattered now anyway. Derek was here. She had to concentrate on Derek. They were going to have as much fun as possible in a café that neither of them had known existed not too long ago.
So, Scarlett shifted her attention back to Derek, looking back up at him and forcing a slightly bigger smile than earlier. “Sorry.” She mumbled apologetically, still forcing the smile. Wrapping her arms around her slender frame caused a twinge in her upper arm, along with a small gasp of pain and the sudden urge to dive under a rock and stay there for the rest of the night. Covering it up with an unconvincing cough, Scarlett turned on her heel and started off towards the door of the café. No way were any thoughts of that man and the pain in her arm going to put a dampener on her night.
She reached the door at the same time a couple of rough looking people got to the door. Not noticing that they were there, Scarlett raised her hand and grasped the handle with the intentions of holding it until Derek got there because she didn’t want to leave him behind. Unfortunately for her, the – we’ll just call them ‘roughs’ – roughs had other ideas. The male grabbed the handle, crushing Scarlett’s hand and yanked the door open so hard that Scarlett felt all her internal organs jump upwards and lodge in her chest. It took every ounce of strength that she didn’t have to keep herself in an upright position as the roughs crashed into the café and occupied two different tables next to each other. Letting go of the door handle, she turned to Derek and placed her hand on her forehead.
“How many more rude people are we going to meet today? ‘Because I don’t think I can handle anymore.” Her words dripped with honesty and a little fright as she waited for him to get closer. The hand that wasn’t holding the door handle was now placed against her chest. Some people were just so scary, she didn’t like it.

CAUSE JUST ONE NIGHT COULDN`T BE SO WRONG
-- i`m gonna make you lose control.

for a split second; derek thought scarlett wouldn`t want to continue the night after being verbally and morally raped by the douchebag that had approached her before he did. he bit down on the inside of his cheek slightly and looked down the street at the guy that had been rude. when he heard scarlett say she was ready to go inside; he smiled and nodded slightly. "lets hop to it then! i`m hungry. didn`t eat--" he stopped talking when he saw that her attention was somewhere else.
wow. what a way to start off. she seemed interested in all things except diggy. he reached up and took off his hat then scratched his head. how interesting must he be to not even be able to keep her attention? apparently not at all. he sighed a little and turned to glance back at the restaurant then replaced his hat; he turned back to scarlett and kinda watched her for a second before she apologized. he nodded a little at her and then watched her walk to the door of the restaurant.
his mind wondered back to the thought of how interesting he was, and how uninterested she was. he looked down at himself and thought, for a slight second, that maybe he should`ve thrown on a button-up and his boots. kept the hat home and thrown the glasses away. then, he realized.. that he wouldn`t have been himself. he`d probably have been trying way too hard to get the attention of this girl he just met. he felt himself get a little angry. he looked up at scarlett. "hey; you know if--" he started, fully intent on telling her that if she didn`t wanna hang out, they could go home.. but he was stopped when the group of 'roughs' came and shoved him a little. the druggie in him growled and had the urge to jump and attack them. but he took a calming, deep breathe and pushed those violent thoughts back. his attention turned back to scarlett just as she got roughed up. he jumped forward and frowned. "hey! watch it, asshole." he said, pushing the guy slightly to make him let go of the handle and scarlett`s hand. he shook his head at the rudeness then looked at scarlett.
he felt bad. she was getting a lot of shit today. what with the girls from their tour, the verbal rapist, and the roughs. he couldn`t help but wonder if she got treated this way everyday.. he gently took the hand that got crushed and examined it for any sign of the small attack. "i understand completely. next rude person that comes along is gonna hit my last nerve." he shook his head and looked at her. "between these guys and that shithead from before.. i`ve been pretty good." he laughed a little and looked back at her hand. "i guess reha-" he stopped and glanced up at her, nervously. "...going away.. really helped.." he said, rubbing her hand a little before letting it go. he reached up and rubbed his neck a little then reached out for the door and pulled it open. "after you." he smiled slightly and motioned for her to go ahead inside.
fucking rehab? really, diggy? why would you bring it up like that?! he thought to himself when he walked into the restaurant behind her. he tried to tell himself that it had slipped out but that he`d caught it just before he revealed enough of him to scare her away. but he wouldn`t let himself hear it. he sighed a little s he thought about the beat down he`d give himself if he did make scarlett a little apprehensive about being there with him. he looked at the ceiling and hoped to God that he hadn`t done just that. he looked down as the hostess of the restaurant began to show them to their seats. he was awestruck when she led them to a window seat that gave the perfect view of the manhattan skyline. "whoa.." he said, absentmindedly. he took his seat and looked out the window for a moment before looking at scarlett. "look at that view. it`s fucking amazing.." he said as he glanced between her and the view. "i should come here more often!" he said, smiling wide.

YOU'RE THE GUY THAT I'D BE STUPID TO TRUSTbut just one night couldn't be so wrong. you make me wanna lose control. maybe it was karma. it was being a bitch to her just because she was rushing too fast into something with another person that she didn't know that much about. a boy too. yeah, that had to be the explanation for it all. it made perfect sense. it was karma's way of telling her that she had no right to be happy for once in her life. no right to be going on a date with a male who was one year her senior. it would certainly explain the whole ordeal thus far. the girls from the tour around the school; the man she'd just encountered who'd bascially just raped her in a pyschological sense and now the roughs. her hand was positively stinging. she didn't mean to ignore diggy, it was just that her attention had been stolen; she was going to apologize to him once they were seated, there was no doubt about that.
dropping her gaze to the floor, scarlett kept her hand on her chest and didn't move when diggy took her hand gently and started to examine it to make sure that she hadn't been hurt a lot. slowly she lifted her head up to look at her hand and noticed that a small bruise was beginning to form on the side, but that didn't matter. she didn't care. "i promise i won't hate you for your actions if anything else happens." scarlett half mumbled, half whispered as she watched his hands examine her hand. when he almost mentioned rehab she looked up at him, directly into his eyes and resisted the overwhelming urge to touch his face with the palm of her free hand. "it's okay, you can tell me; i'm not the kind of person to judge another on their circumstances. if you've been to that place it's okay, i'm fine with it. everyone leads a different lifestyle, no two people are exactly the same, not even twins."
scarlett was about to open the door for a second time but diggy beat her too it; he held it open for her and gave her a small smile. "thank you." smiling back at him a little, the girl stepped inside the river café and looked around. the place really was beautiful, but the view was even more beautiful. they were shown to their seats. scarlett was about to remove her jacket when she remembered what she had done, so thought better about it and instead placed her hands on the table top, fingers linked together, eyes focused on diggy. now she was going to pay as much attention to him as was possible. "it's absolutely perfect." came her small reply with a slightly larger smile. it definitely was one of the best views she'd seen in manhattan - even if she had only been there for a week or less so far.
"thank you." a slender hand came up and brushed some of her hair out of her eyes as she turned her attention back to the view - of course she knew that there was a better view right in front of her but thought that she might come off as a bit of a creeper if she stared at him for too long without inching. the waiter came over with their menu's and asked if either of them would like something to drink. scarlett looked up at him and ordered an iced tea with peach and then looked over at diggy, waiting for him to order his drink. once their drinks order had been taken down the waiter moved off and went to fill it. scarlett picked up one of the menu's and lightly tapped diggy's arm with it, holding it up and slightly away from him. "you gotta promise to let me make this up to you later." she smiled, this time it was a lot bigger than all the other times as she looked directly at him, studying his face, still holding the menu firmly in her grip.
