and I'm learning about you Brad sat as his computer; head tilted and chewed on the inside of his cheek- he was confused. Not to say that didn’t happen to Brad a lot. Usually when he sat in his seat in the classes of Eisley; he was confused- but right now; it had nothing to do with using his brain. Serenity was coming over. She was coming over to watch “The Hangover” with him. Just the two of them. Alone. How did that happen? Brad liked Serenity and all; she was really chill and always had his back- that is; unless the subject was Wheat Thins- but the transition from cool chick he had never hung out with; to chick that was gonna be in his dorm room watching movies with him; alone. . . Well; how the heck did that happen? Silly as it may seem; but Brad actually shrugged his shoulder to his own question. Whatever; man. She was on his way.
He stood up and stretched- and that’s when he caught sight of his room and sighed. It wasn’t dirty- but it also wasn’t what he wanted a girl to come in and see for the first time. Piles of basketball shorts here and there ; bags of unopened socks; boxes of Wheat Thins; his container of protein shake powder; DVD cases; hand weights; his Bible studies stuff piled haphazardly on his desk; various sports equipment and; really; how many basketballs did he need? It was; as Tilly would call it; “a hot mess”. Bradley sighed again and got on it.
When it was done; it looked decent and smelled of; well; him. He hadn’t thought to ask one of the girls for Fabreeze or something; so he sprayed his cologne. Now he had another predicament- Did he wear the same cologne or would it be overpowering? But if he wore a different cologne would it be weird mixing with the scent of his room. Standing in front of his door scratching his head; he stared down at the black bottle and contemplated it for a second before getting a brilliant idea- he would just take a shower! And with the shower and the cologne in the room; he’d be fine. Cause by then the smell would kinda die down. Yeah. Yeah; that would work. Just to be safe; he turned a fan on and left the door open when he headed towards the bathroom. Thankfully he remembered that he was going to cook her the cheeseburgers he promised her- so he made a pit stop in the kitchen to make sure they had everything he needed in order to feed her.
He made sure to make it quick; but get the job done. Then slipped into his usual boxers and basketball shorts and house shoes before plopping down on his bed to dry his hair. As he ruffled up his black ‘do with a towel; he wondered; yet again; how this came to be. And then even better yet; if he was overreacting just a little. Sure; Brad came across as a self confident; maybe even slightly narcissistic jock. But truth was; when it came to chicks he was slightly clueless. It was either Penny; who let him know when it was time to get cute and go out in public; Spencer who did his homework [no; not help him with it- she literally did his homework] or it was his best-friend Val who was the realest chick he knew and; truthfully; his favorite person at Eisley. Brad didn’t actually date or even try to for that matter. The boy had balls on the brain [as in. . . basketballs and footballs; you perv]. So; truthfully; he had no idea if this new girl thought this was a date or if this was a friendly thing or what.
Yeee-uck. Brad hated pondering things.

--- i was alone , i took a ride , ( i didn't know what i would find there ) Smart people knew that, when plagued with a hangover, you are supposed to do as little as you can. Stay in bed, if possible, or keep everything low-key throughout the day. Smart people knew that there is really nothing you can do about a hangover once you have it except wait for it to go away. Smart people knew not to take a few swigs of good ol' Jack Daniels to try to get rid of the headache. Unfortunately, Serenity was not a smart person. She'd acquired a nice little buzz to try to get rid of her headache; nothing major, of course--it wasn't like she was drunk--she felt pretty warm all over and could now at least ignore her splitting headache. Maybe it was that warm feeling that made her decide to conveniently forget that she was hungover and now buzzed and agree to go to Brad's dorm to watch a movie. How lucky that she was able to appreciate the irony of the movie in question--The Hangover.
As she clicked out of the chatroom, Serenity began to realize that there were both positive and negative aspects tied into the decision she had just made in accepting Brad's invitation. On the plus side, she got to hang out with Brad, who seemed to be a pretty cool guy. Making new friends was always good, right? And it also got her out of her own dorm, where there was screaming and puking and god-knows-what-else going on in the background. Walking into hell and having dinner with the devil himself seemed preferable to staying here for the moment.
On the other hand, she had absolutely no idea what to expect. She had never even been to either of the other dorm buildings at Eisley, let alone in a guy's dorm room. Maybe his roommates were as nosy and intrusive as hers were and would end up joining them. That wouldn't necessarily be bad. But if they didn't, then she would be alone with him. Serenity honestly hadn't been alone with any guy who wasn't related to her in months, and she wasn't sure how she was supposed to react to this.
Well, it was too late to worry about that. She could either go and make it obvious that she didn't quite understand what was going on, or she could just act like she normally did and avoid any awkwardness that would ensue. (Luckily for her, she was completely unaware of the confession she had made during her drunken Truth or Dare, or even that she felt the confession was true, or she would be too embarrassed to try and keep it from being awkward.)
So when she got up to get ready, she did so with the firm idea that she was going to act as a friend. She didn't really know if she would have wanted to act in any other way anyways; it still felt like it was too soon after...well, after everything that had happened back home. So she put on typical Serenity clothes--which, admittedly, were probably a bit more dress-casual than most teenagers wore, but that was just how she rolled--and fixed her hair in typical Serenity style. As she left, she wondered if she should tell someone that she was leaving and where she would be, but she decided that they were probably too wrapped up in their own problems to worry about where she was anyways.
Serenity was still relatively unaccustomed to grabbing some sort of jacket before leaving to go anywhere, so by the time she made her way over to the Malloy dorms, she was freaking freezing, to put it nicely. She stood in the lobby of the building for a moment to allow the feeling to warm its way back into her nose and then quickly found dorm 100, which was pretty easy since the layout of the building was pretty similar to the McCleely dorms. She didn't really remember how she knew which dorm it was; she'd probably heard Hayden or Spencer or someone mention it or something. The important part was that she did know which one it was, and knocked on the door once she reached it, not entirely sure what to expect.

What do I do?
what do I say? Jarred by his thoughts of someone at the door- Brad grinned and stood; taking one last visual sweep of his room. Yeah; it was clean [not that it was dirty earlier] and although he had tried to place things to tone it down; you could still totally tell that some sort of Christian Jock resided there. That didn’t embarrass him. Anyone who knew him well enough for him to be comfortable having them come over would know that he was a Christian Jock; no big deal. Brad just didn’t want to scare her away; he didn’t know what kind of background with guys Serenity had and he wanted to make sure she was comfortable hanging out with him in his room. That’s just who Brad was; it was the Christian thing to do. As a last moment thought; he realized that he only had one chair in his room- that left sitting on his bed. He had no time to ponder on if that was okay or not; he’d just have to ask her when he opened the door.
Brad took his towel with him to the door; so that he could finish drying his hair and opened the door with his free hand. “Ren! Whats up; ma?” Putting his foot in front of the door to keep it open; he removed his free hand from the doorknob and reaches out wrapping an arm around the girls shoulders and gently pulled her in the dorm and into a hug. “ I don’t know where the rest of the roomies are. I think you know all of them; right? Penny; Matty;; Hayden and Bama?” He tilted his head and looked down at her; as if the expression was a question mark. Suddenly he remembered that he was holding her captive in the doorway and as he released her laughing slightly to himself. “ Well; this is the boring part of the dorm.” Shrugging he motions with his hand for her to follow him into his room and when he opened his door he stopped himself from heaving a sigh of relief that it no longer punched your nose with the scent of cologne. “ C’mon in; kid.” He left the door open and walked to his bed where the shirt he had chosen to wear lay. Yeah; he was putting on his shirt. That was the equivalent of someone putting a dress shirt to sit in there and watch a movie in their dorm. Those that lived with him could attest that Brad’s official uniform was basketball shorts and house slippers. Heck; those who just knew him and were with him in a relaxed setting knew that; but for whatever reason; Brad thought it would be more polite if he covered up in front of his new friend. Bradley White was a show of; that was for sure [Have you ever seen his touchdown dance?]; but there were just some things that weren’t attractive- and forcing her to look at him half naked was one of those things. Besides; there had to be one aspect of his life that he had to be modest in. After pulling the foreign article of clothing over his head; he gave her a half smile and motioned around his room; “ Chair; bed. . . whatever. Man; I forgot to grab another chair; shoot.” Brad rubbed at his cheek with the back of his fingers as he wondered if grabbing another chair was even worth it and then thought about if it was putting too much thought and effort into making sure Ren was comfortable. She seemed like a chill chick; it wasn’t like she was gonna give him the Penny treatment; where everything had to be perfect. “ Yeah;” he shrugged a shoulder; “ whatever! Just; uh; lemme know. . .” Not even minutes into wearing it and Brad already wanted to take the shirt off; he felt constricted and stuffy; like he had to do something serious. At least he was still rocking the BBall shorts; dude honestly thanked God that he had allowed himself that luxury. Walking to the other side of his room he picked up the empty case for ‘The Hangover’. “ I can’t believe you ain’t seen this flick yet. It makes drinking seem bomb and scary as all get out. All I know is;” he waved the case at her; “ it seems like Vegas be where it’s at.” He pushed play on his DVD player and started poking at the ‘+’ button that signified turning the volume up higher. “ I ain’t never really been nowhere. I mean; like; other than Georgia towns and Cali. Oh;” he smiled at Serenity as he moved away from the entertainment center; “ and New York of course. What about you; ma? You one of those ballers? Got money to just up and bounce to France for the summer?” Brad sat his rested his butt on the edge of his desk and reached over grabbing the bottle of Jergens; then proceeded to wipe the lotion on his arms. TAGGED :: renity cricket ! --- i was alone , i took a ride , ( i didn't know what i would find there ) During the walk over, Serenity had tried to imagine a few possible scenarios of what could happen once she arrived. It turned out to be incredibly difficult to do, though. For one thing, other than talking online and seeing each other in the hallways during school every once in a while, she had never really been around Brad for very long. She didn't expect anything bad to happen, of course; somehow, she found that she trusted him enough to know that nothing like that would happen. Ren just usually preferred to know what to expect in advance so she didn't react stupidly and embarrass herself. For some reason, the thought of embarrassing herself in front of Brad seemed worse than doing so in front of anyone else.
Speaking of reacting stupidly, though, that turned out to be exactly what she did when Brad swung the door open. Serenity found that she was blushing--yes, blushing, like it was the freaking fifties or something--when she realized that Brad was currently shirtless. It obviously wasn't like she hadn't ever seen a guy without a shirt on before; she lived thirty minutes away from the beach at home, for heaven's sake. But it was so unexpected and so...well, not entirely unwelcome that she couldn't help it. Luckily, he immediately pulled her into a one-armed hug, so maybe he didn't see. Maybe.
"Hey," she said warmly in greeting. When he mentioned that none of his roommates were there, she uncomfortably bit the inside of her lip. That meant that it really was just the two of them. Alone. In his dorm room. But...that was okay. Yeah. It was Brad; it wasn't like he would do anything. They were just watching a movie, that was all. So Serenity smiled and shrugged as best she could with his arm still around her shoulders. "Yeah, of course I know them, and it's fi--wait, 'Bama'?" That last name hadn't fully registered in her mind until that moment. It didn't seem familiar to her in the slightest bit; in fact, she was almost certain she had never even heard that name (without an "O" in front of it, of course, but she felt silly even thinking about that). "Who's that?"
"Well, this is the boring part of the dorm. C'mon in; kid." Although she would never admit it aloud, Serenity was slightly disappointed when he removed his arm and gestured for her to follow him to his room. But then again, she was a touchy-feely kind of person no matter who she was with, so that wasn't really that big of a surprise. It certainly didn't mean anything. So she refused to dwell on it any longer. "You mean I didn't come over for a tour of the co-ed dorms? Oh, darn," she replied with a grin as she followed behind Brad. Coming from anyone else, that probably would have sounded sarcastic, but Serenity just couldn't pull off sarcasm very well. She was too cheery. Annoyingly so sometimes, but cheery nonetheless.
Even though the co-ed dorms tour thing had obviously been a joke, Serenity still couldn't help but to subtly look around her as they walked the short distance to Brad's room, comparing and contrasting it to the dorm she shared with Spencer, Ara, Kaitlin, and Logan. From what she could see, it was almost exactly the same, albeit not as spotless. That was understandable, though; not everyone was as obsessively clean as she was, and even in other dorms in the McCleely building, there was a marked contrast between the upkeep of those rooms and dorm 100. In the actual rooms, though, there was one major difference: bed size. Brad's bed was like tiny compared to her own queen-sized one. The school board probably thought that having a smaller bed would deter students from just walking into each other's rooms and gettin' it on in the middle of the night. They obviously didn't know teenagers very well.
But when Brad (now with a shirt on, she noted) mentioned that there was only one chair, the size of the bed seemed to pose a problem. Serenity didn't mind sitting on the bed, of course; in fact, there seemed to be a better view of the TV from there anyways. And she didn't want to make him go to the trouble of going to get another chair or anything. But then again, she didn't want to like...just take over his bed. That seemed kind of rude. But he seemed to be worrying about it so much that Serenity couldn't help but laugh, and decided to set aside her own confusion with the current situation in order to calm Brad down. "Don't worry about it, the bed's fine," she giggled, and to prove it, she slipped off her boots and hopped up onto the bed, sitting criss-cross-applesauce with her hands in her lap like she was in kindergarten or something. "See? It's all good. Just don't force any Wheat Thins on me or anything," she added with a grin.
"I can’t believe you ain’t seen this flick yet. It makes drinking seem bomb and scary as all get out." Although not a suspicious person by nature, Serenity silently chewed the inside of her lip again when he said that. Brad hadn't seemed to condemn her for her drinking whenever she entered the chatroom a little...buzzed--at least, not as far as she could remember--but at the same time, he certainly hadn't seemed to be too enthusiastic about it. She even seemed to recall one of their first conversations involving the fact that he had never even had alcohol before. Surely this movie choice was based solely on the fact that it was a popular movie, and not because it made "drinking seem bomb and scary"...right?
While she had been considering this, Serenity hadn't noticed that the movie had started or that Brad was still talking to her. She re-focused on what he was saying just in time to hear him ask his question. "What about you; ma? You one of those ballers? Got money to just up and bounce to France for the summer?" The question surprised her so much that she actually snorted with laughter, and then immediately blushed again after doing so. Snorting; yeah, that was ladylike. And what on earth was with her and blushing all of a sudden?
"France? Hardly," she replied as her blush died down. "My parents hate traveling, so on the rare occasion we actually went on a vacation, it was always either to Myrtle Beach or Savannah." She paused to consider for a moment, and then added, "Well, and we went to Disney World one time, but that was an incredibly traumatizing experience."
Then she realized how stupid that sounded and she blushed yet again. So in order to get the focus of the conversation off of her, she asked: "Would you go to Vegas, though? If you had the opportunity, I mean? It doesn't seem like...well, your type of place." Your type of place? Oh, God, that sounded much more offensive when she said it aloud than it had in her head. She quickly tried to cover her tracks, afraid he would get mad at her or something. "I mean, um, it seems like it's just a bunch of like drinking and sex and stuff, and...um...you don't seem to be very interested in that sort of thing." Oh, God, why didn't she just quite while she was behind?
