I FEEL LIKE A SHADOWwalking behind who do you think I am, If Marilyn Barker was back at her old school, typically at this time she'd be heading home after a long day's work. Perhaps she'd be crying, feeling sorry for herself because of her old 'friend' from the past. Or maybe she'd think that things had changed, and would be rushing to get home to change for some event. Only, to find that it had all been a big joke, on her of course. Yet, Marilyn wasn't at her old school. She wasn't in contact with the old friend anymore. She was, in fact, a student at Eisley Prep, a freshman, and though her social life wasn't the best, she was slightly happy. Well, as happy as you could get, heading to the library to study.
Typically, Marilyn would be sitting outside under a tree, studying in the shade, instead of in the stuffy library, where people would glare should she make one, small little noise. Unfortunately, because of the snowy weather that was winter outside, her favorite tree was no longer an option. Finally reaching the library doors, she pulled the glass door open and walked inside. Stomping the snow off her boots before entering the quite building, Marilyn headed upstairs, where hopefully an empty table, and nice view of the campus, was waiting for her.
As luck would have it, Marilyn found a nice, table for four that was empty, tucked in the corner of the room. Setting her black leather bag down on one of the chairs, she began to un-button her long, wool trench coat. A new gift she received from her parents, Marilyn loved the new-coat smell of the article of clothing. Pulling out her math notebook, and practice sheets, she started to cram. Her math teacher had informed the class that there was a unit test, in two days. Apparently, it wasn't that big of a deal for the teacher to see her students panic. Marilyn hadn't wasted a second - she immediately headed to the library after the news was given. And here she was.
Like she had expected, there didn't seem to be that many of her classmates coming here to study. It didn't suprise Marilyn, she assumed they had much more important things to do. The girls in her grade actually had a large sum of friends, they most likely had plans in the city, or even just on campus. There was a big chance that something was going on right now, where girls in her class were having a great time, and Marilyn was missing out. The girl tried to reason with herself. At least she'd have a great mark on the math test, right? Then again, she couldn't just assume something like that. Then she'd end up jinking the whole thing, and failing the test.
Realizing that she was rambling in her mind, Marilyn tried to concentrate. What was the answer to (3a-2)+5a? To be honest, the girl didn't really care. She just wished she had someone to study with. Preferably someone that wasn't reluctantly placed with her as a partner for a project, or someone that had to share a table with her. She was lonely. And though at the start of the year she vowed that she could be social, that she could break out of her shell, it seemed those promises to herself were being taken back. Things weren't looking that great for her at the moment.

Jade Stratton, the famous freshman girl, she was wearing a blue jean skirt with a white tank top over a white and black long sleeve shirt. On her feet she has black converses on with white socks on. She also had her long black hair with red tips toward the bottom part of her hair. She also has a red hat on that she loves a lot. She smiled in her mirror as she added some make up to her face but just not a lot at all. She grabbed her bag as she went through the school day. During the school day like usually people stared at her and gawked and she is starting to hate it but she doesn't really want to quit the record label at all.
After her school day is over she was going to go back into her dorm room but she decided against it. She was going to the library so that she can study or at least read a book. She went to her dorm so that she can get some of her supplies for her studying session at the library. She grabbed her i-pod that has some of the songs that her record label wants her to listen to well technically they are her songs that she wants to listen to since she wants to see how good they are. She put that in her bag along with her history textbook, math book, and English book as well.
She looked around before she went out of her dorm room with her red jacket on as she headed out of the dorm hall. She headed out in the freezing cold to walk toward the library building. Once she got there she smiled as she started to hum a little tune that she got stuck in her head from her recording label since they are still having her do the same song though which she is starting to get annoyed some but she couldn't really tell her recording label no since that would be rude. Well in her minds eye it would be rude and she doesn't really want to stop recording music or singing them really since she actually loves it a lot.
As she was walking through the campus snow started to fall and she thought Great snow is falling. I love snow but I don't want to be covered in it before I get to the library. Jade found the library which she smiled as she walked faster to the door. Once she got into the library she smiled as she opened the door and into the library. She closed the door and shook her head some so that some of the snow can get off of her before they melt and made her cold.
She looked around before she saw a girl that looked like one of the kids in one of her classes. Jade looked around and saw that a lot of people were in there today. So she went over to the girl's table and said "Hi can I join you? Every where else is full." As she smiled at the girl.

I'VE HAD JUST ABOUT ENOUGHof quote diamonds in the rough, Marilyn wasn't really big on the trends, to be honest. She was one to just march to the beat of her own drum, not one to follow specific trends at the time. She could never understand that point of them. They'd change either way, so why spend so much money on a pair of boots that'll end up in the reject bin three weeks later? Instead, Marilyn chose clothing she liked - typically avoiding ones of the tight variety. She liked slouchy tank tops, pretty skirts in all different shades - bendy flats that were quite flexible were more her style.
As for her hair - well, the brown (though at times they looked red - don't ask her why) locks were quite long on her, and went down to about her waist. They were slightly wavy, so most times Marilyn just used the hair ironer to keep them smooth and silky, and well, straight. Today, it was accessorized with a golden brown headband, and half of it was up, while the rest fell in wavy curls. Most of the time she didn't bother to make it that nice, but today was an exception. She secretly had thought that perhaps things would change if she looked nicer - but they clearly hadn't. It was a shallow thought really, but the girl was desperate.
When Marilyn saw another girl looking down at her, clearly addressing her when she spoke, Marilyn was taken aback. She hadn't thought the fates would answer this quickly to her prayers. Perhaps things were looking up already. "S-Sure," the girl replied nervously, moving her bag from the chair beside her to the floor, to give the girl some more room. She looked slightly familiar, but Marilyn wasn't quite sure where she looked familiar. Quietly, she embarrassingly realized she hadn't tried all that hard to look and see the other people in her classes. How could she just expect people to suddenly want to be friends with her, if she herself didn't even bother to make an effort?
After turning her ipod volume down slightly, Marilyn spoke again. Her fear was that the conversation would die out so that if she said anything later than now, it would sound forced and awkward. Which would embarrass her even more than already. "So, what are you listening to right now?" she asked, noticing the ipod in the girl's hand. While waiting for an answer, she continued to scribble in her math binder. The whole thing was filled with doodles - usually of hearts, or song lyrics, or even random thoughts. Typically though, Marilyn kept the random thoughts to a minimum, and never about someone that went to Eisley Prep. If something happened to find something mean that she said about them, she'd never be able to live it down.
That was one problem with Marilyn. She could never really take scandal quite well. Truthfully, she'd die of embarrassment should any word get around school about her, and probably beg her parents to switch schools. Just like the last one. At times Marilyn wondered what would have happened if she had stuck around. Maybe she could have stood up to that mean girl. Maybe she could have showed people that you don't need to hide away from every little scandal, that you could come back, and be stronger. She could have set an example for girls just like her - who didn't know if they had it in them. But now? Marilyn would never know.
