WELL I'M STUCK IN THIS FUCKING RUT,waiting on a second hand pick me up. and i'm over, getting older. Well, her day had started out rather fantastical. The doctors had finally informed her that she was ready and able to go back to school, but without actually going back to school. In other terms, that meant she was free from the hospital and finally able to see her best friends; her sisters. So, that’s what Kaitlin had done. A month at the hospital had taken it’s toll on the already small and frail girl, but she was a fighter and whilst she looked rather weak and paler than normal, Kaitlin was still the little firecracker Spencer had dubbed her as. She was a fighter and she was getting better. Well, she was going to get better. Progress thus far was going good. The bone marrow transplant had taken it’s toll on her in the past; and it was going to take an even bigger toll on her when it was next due. Kaitlin just wished that it would disappear already; she hated the headaches, she hated being sick, and most of all she hated the hospitals; though spending almost every waking hour there just lately had helped in her ‘fear of hospitals’, it still wasn’t enough to get over it completely.
Unfortunately, Kaitlin was given ‘special brownies’ when she got back to the dorms with her best friends; her sisters and shit started to happen. It started with the brownies. It progressed to the fifteen year old throwing up violently several times in ten minutes. If she wasn’t pale already after the long stint at the hospital, she was deathly pale now, to the point where she could pass for a vampire (though not the sparkly kind, kthnx Stephanie Meyer). Her hands started to shake violently and it had been getting increasingly difficult for her to maintain an upright position; which was completely squashed when everything else went down the toilet and Kaitlin found herself in desperate need of yet another trip to the hospital.
She had tried to protest, honestly she had, but then Matty had showed up in the picture and she couldn’t really get out of it. Serenity had burst into her dorm to announce that Matty had arrived and Kaitlin had bitten her- not on purpose. It was an immediate reaction to being touched; though she was used to Serenity now and everyone else; she still only allowed for two people to touch her. Spencer and Matty. Granted that she’d known Serenity longer than Matty, but there was just something… well, it wasn’t easily explained. Anyways, after biting Serenity, Kaitlin promptly passed out and when she woke up the walls were white and there was a snoring Matty next to her. Kaitlin had been satisfied that she was going to get out of the hospital the next day, so she had taken Matty’s hand in her own, shuffled down the hospital bed and curled up, going back to sleep.
When she woke up in the morning, Kaitlin didn’t see Matty; she figured that he’d gone to get a drink or something to eat so she’d taken the opportune moment to sneak out of her hospital bed; get dressed and sneak out of the hospital altogether. However, she hadn’t made it very far before her doctor caught her and pulled her back into the hospital, explaining that he needed a word in her ear. Obviously he’d heard that she had had some pot, but he’d also heard the part where she didn’t know that there had been pot in the brownies. He explained that she was allergic to marijuana; of course that started something and Kaitlin had told the doctor that she needed some fresh air. Meaning that she wanted/needed/had the urge to find out of it was actually possible to be allergic to marijuana. And it was.
A little talk with Spencer; a blueberry muffin, and a strange smelling liquid later, Kaitlin was allowed to go back to the dorms with strict instructions and she still hadn’t seen Matty.
Anyways; when Kaitlin arrived back at the dorms she felt suddenly queasy and made like a banana split to the bathrooms. Perhaps eating hadn’t been such a good idea. Once she cleaned herself up, the little freshman soon-to-be junior, made her way over to the couch- everyone was still in class she guessed; probably why Matty had randomly disappeared, and sat herself down, switching on the TV and picking up the remote. Bored. So bored. Kaitlin flicked through the channels until she found a bunch of cartoons. Placing the remote on the table, she curled herself up on the couch; grabbing a throw pillow and hugging it against her stomach. Green eyes started to get heavy before long and pretty damn soon Kaitlin’s eyes closed completely and she drifted off into a light sleep.
She was the picture of a porcelain figure laying on the couch. Deathly pale face; red eyes and a smaller figure than she had left Eisley with a month ago. A fright to the first person who saw her when classes finished.

just don't give up, i'm working it out PLEASE DON'T GIVE IN; I WON'T LET YOU DOWN - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - So, Spencer's first day back in classes was...strange, to say the least. After her late night talk with Serenity, things in their dorm had settled down a lot; nothing was picture perfect, of course, and Spencer knew she still had a long way to go until she was completely forgiven, but they were making progress as a group and that was good. What was unfortunate was that Kaitlin was still in the hospital. Spencer desperately needed to talk to the girl, to explain herself or to apologize profusely a little more or just to say "hi". But alas, Kaitlin was in the hospital and was virtually unreachable. Matty was in classes and not with Kaitlin anymore, so she couldn't even call him to ask about her firecracker's state.
But yeah; Spencer's day was weird. She was going around the school in a bit of a funk. She still felt guilty and weird around some people. She still felt like she was being judged a little, attacked every now and then. She was pretty paranoid, actually, because there was no way anyone who wasn't in the chat the night before would have even known what went on. But Spencer's mood wasn't only because of her guilt. She'd smoked a whole joint by herself at a little past one in the morning. Several hours later, all the effects hadn't exactly disappeared. She wasn't obviously high--just a little sluggish and sometimes she appeared to be smiling for no reason at all. She also hadn't managed to entirely rid herself of the stench of pot, which kind of posed a problem. It was nowhere as strong as it had been and she'd covered it up a little bit with some intense applications of Febreeze, but there was that lingering smell. And she certainly got plenty of looks for it--some approving, some not so much...
Whatever, Spencer thought to herself as she sat in class after class, the hours passing like snails in the desert. I don't need anyone's approval. Or so she told herself. To be honest, Spencer had never been seen in a sorrier state. Obviously, she being Spencer Kelly and all, she'd been in much worse positions, but she'd never let anyone see her so weak and vulnerable. She didn't want to appear invincible or anything; it was just really fucking embarrassing. Also, seemingly every teacher made the extra effort just to sniff at Spencer when she passed by them, as if she already didn't know that she smelled of reefer. She just made a point to sniff right back at them; it didn't have the same effect.
Spencer was so glad when her last class ended. She was practically the first one out the door. She headed back to her dorm immediately and hopped onto the chat, hoping she'd find somebody nice to distract her from whatever was going on in her life. She had no control over anything anymore, it seemed. She happened to find Kaitlin (which didn't help take her mind off anything), but they actually had a pleasant little chat. Spencer still felt very guilty, but Kaitlin didn't seem very mad at her at all. Maybe just tired. Spencer didn't blame her; she felt much the same.
After their talk, Spencer was left alone with really nothing to do and no one to talk to. So she decided that rather than giving in to the urge to go through her alcohol collection, she'd head off to the nearest Starbucks. She stayed outside for about half an hour, enjoying the weather and the grande Vanilla Bean Frappucino she'd gotten. Trevor had even been working so she got to talk to him for a bit before heading back to school.
Spencer sighed as she fumbled with her dorm keys. She could hear noise coming from directly inside, so at least she wouldn't be alone now. At the same time, she was afraid of the awkwardness that would hit her if she had to talk to her roommates in the state she currently was in. So it was with this in mind that she slowly pushed open the door. She paused when she saw Kaitlin on the couch in the living room, but her face softened when she saw the girl was asleep in front of the TV, some unidentifiable cartoon playing.
Kaitlin didn't look well at all though and Spencer's smile faded as she softly closed the door, trying not to wake her sleeping roommate. She took another sip of her frappucino and settled down on the armchair next to the couch, watching Kaitlin with worried eyes. Spencer put her bag down at her feet. How had her small friend gotten out of the hospital so quickly? Had she come home alone? She looked more frail than ever and all of Spencer's guilty feelings came back stronger. This was her fault more than anyone else's at that moment.
Setting her frappucino on the floor next to her black bag, Spencer bent over her knees and buried her face in her hands. She was the worst friend anyone could ask for.
